... Christine's collection of short stories and poetry is largely based on her first disastrous attempt at womanhood in 1985. Two years of burgeoning self-awareness, spiraling addiction, sexwork and borderline insanity are captured in this eighty page postcard from the dark underbelly of San Francisco's meanest district. Not for the faint of heart.
Illustrated by transsexual artist Nola Van Della.

Artwork by Nola Van Della

Nola Van Della is a transsexual surrealist from San Francisco who did the cover art, plus most of the book's illustrations. Influenced by H.R. Giger and Salvador Dali, Nola works mostly in pencil and ink. These low-res scans do not do justice to the near-microscopic detail of these drawings. Prints of her work are available. Click on the thumbnails below to see samples of Nola's work. To purchase her work please send an email to Christine.
