Artwork by Nola

Glamazon's Own Artist

Nola Van Della

is the best friend of Glamazon's lead singer, Christine. Nola is a fantastic artist who works mostly in pencil and ink. She did the artwork for Glamazon's CD, drawings for our posters, the Glamazon lettering, the Go-Girl Records logo -- GG -- and our warrior woman logo, Glamazon's mascot, Vanda. Nola embodies all of the Glamazonian ideals of beauty and strength! We've included some samples of her talent for your perusal and purchase. These images have been edited to keep them from being pirated. (Almost 40% of Evil Nola has been cropped from the image file.) You can order one (or more) prints of Nola's work from the Go-Girl Records Glamazon Store.

Nola was born in Hollywood and was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her inclination to art started as a child, and by the time she reached her twenties she settled into surrealism as her favorite motif. Naturally, Salvador Dali and H.R. Giger rank high on her list, two major influences evident in her work.

Nola and Christine met in 1986 and have been best girlfriends ever since, hauling each other out of a drug-frenzied rollercoaster to Hell. Nola is the subject of some of the stories and poems of Christine's 1993 book Misery Loves Company (also available in the Go-Girl Records Glamazon Store) for which she did most of the illustrations.

While she has set it on the back burner until she can find help, Nola has been experimenting with object animation since the 70's. Most of her animation is done with objects cut out from photographs. The level of detail and intricacy with which she cut these out is nothing short of amazing. (For instance, she has insects cut out where the antenna are very slender, yet she cut them out intact.) She has a huge trunk with thousands of these cut-outs. While she formerly used an 8MM camera for this work, she now envisions using a computer.
